Description for THE ExPat Files Show - 06-12-2016
#1- More of the latest info on the Latin American residency process: People don’t realize that if you don’t have permanent or temporary residency in a particular Latin country and wish to remain, you must leave the place every 3 months and spend at least one 24 hour day out of that country before returning again. You must repeat that process indefinitely. There are some minor exceptions but the Bottom line is: you must start the residency process as soon as possible since it’s not getting any easier to obtain
#2– More late breaking info on offshore banking in Latin America. It’s become a tortured path. The USA has made it so. Expats living in Latin Countries definitely need to get accounts and will need help along the way
#3-No doubt about it, if you insist on eating street food (and tortillas) you will occasionally get a dose of Montezuma’s revenge. Yes, it will happen even if you eat (tortillas) at safe and sanitary upscale restaurants. Here are a few reasons why..
#4-Today we have another unusual story. This time its a comment about the living conditions of the lower middle-class and poor Latins who will most certainly be working in and around your house

#1- When Gringos apply for residency and/or citizenship/passport in
their new Latin country- do they really need to be fluent in Spanish?
Well the forms are all in Spanish, as well the questions immigration
authorities will ask. To get through it ok, at what level of Spanish
might you reasonably get by? Remember, there‘s no such thing as press #1
for “Ingles”, in Latin America!
#2– Here’s a question: how would
your morale stand up if you were a public school teacher/professor and
your government’s dept. of education was 6 months in arrears on your
paycheck? Nope, nothing new down here. Par for the course for all things
public in Latin America
#3- Even the most “average” stateside
gringo knows there’s something bad coming in the USA. Though right now
its like the calm before the storm. Meanwhile 95% of Americans keep
their heads down and continue to spin endlessly on the treadmills. Oh,
but when asked what they’ll do when TSHTF most say they’ll have a plan
by then. For now they’re mostly thinking about planning to get a plan.
But you’re not one of those types, right? Your plan “B” is well under
way, correct?
#4- You can buy the latest computers and smart
gadgets in Latin America, especially if you live near a decent sized
city. When you purchase electronics you’ll get the ususal
guarantees/warranties too. However, except for US store branches like
Sears, Office Depot and Costco, etc., Latin warranty service is only
fair to dismal. Bottom line, don’t assume your flat-screen TV warranty
is as advertised. So then, should you buy big ticket items at Sears or
Costco so just for the sake of the solid warranties? Today we tackle
that theme and more..
#5-Consult with Johnny- Schedule a cell or

#1- The Venezuelan crisis: 101 things you never knew but really should
#2– Confucious say, “Select your words carefully… for someday you may have to eat them”. Today we discuss a short list of first-world Hollywood and Media blockheads who repeatedly have sucked up to Hugo Chavez and Nicholas Maduro. And yes, now they are eating their fawning, doting, idiotic words.
#3- The vast majority of people working on an escape plan or “Plan B” have heard that- as US citizens- they cannot open foreign bank accounts anymore unless they have created an S.A. corporation or have obtained legal residency in that foreign country. That’s only partly true. Today we explain other faster, simpler and much cheaper way.
#4- Latin supermarkets and tiendas sell all types of table salt and many of the cheap brands contain not only iodine but FLOURIDE!!! Does that mean when you eat out you’re continously getting dosed? Not necessarily so and here’s why..

#1-Will you be rich in Latin America? In Latin America just what is the
definition of rich? What income is considered middle class? …or
upper-middle class?
#2–Sad but true, IQ’s in the states, Latin
America and around the world have been deteriorating steadily since the
1960’s. Meanwhile, we are all perennial optimists and think we’re
smarter and better off financially than we actually are…
#3-Some current examples of how Latin TV and the media are thoroughly brainwashing their youth
#4-Solar hot water heating, phasing out LP gas and getting off the grid in Latin America
#5-Why
is it that most all “Do-Gooder” organizations and other non-transparent
so-called “charities” don’t pass the smell test? Meanwhile “good
hearted” gringos keep getting fooled and sucked in again and again…

#1-How “Clueless Gringos” get gouged by Latin lawyers- their methods.
#2–True stories of Latin lawyers charging exorbitant Gringo prices.
#3-My
own personal “gouged and scammed” lawyer stories. How I was gouged and
scammed on the “tourist trail” and never even knew it… and you probably
won’t either(not for a long long time anyway)
#4-How and why it’s
becoming more and more expensive for Expats in Panama and why its an
unwise idea to open a bank account there.
#5-Selecting the
right bank in Latin America: the do’s and dont's along with an
explanation of the many hoops you need to jump through to open an
account.
#5-How even honest and decent Latin lawyers can do an
end-run around the many Latin rules that we Gringos take for granted
(down here rules aren’t quite so etched in stone)
#5-Bribes and
payoffs and grease the wheels in Latin America: we Gringos are not
exempt from occasionally paying them and if we don't our paperwork will
often remain at the bottom of the pile. We usually let our lawyer do the
dirty-work.
#6- Today we discuss a noble “do-gooder” project you
might actually want to get involved in. One that helps practically
everyone… including the planet itself

#1- What’s that “Gringo Advantage” thing all about? Well, it starts with “boots on the ground”, that's when you begin to notice the missing pieces in Latin owned businesses and their lack of attention to detail. Yet they still manage to survive and some have great success. Get ready to ask yourself over and over… how can that be? Seeing all that stuff, when the locals don’t, is the start of your “Gringo Advantage”
#2– People in the first-world say the legal system in Latin America does NOT favor the individual. That is, if one is suspected of a crime down here he is usually “guilty” until proven innocent. Well it’s not that simple and really depends on three important factors: social class, finances and whether or not you have a friendly attorney to phone up if you're in trouble…
#3- Latin kids are well behaved, overly polite and respectful to their elders. That’s the solid opinion of nearly every visiting gringo. Yet Latins believe in corporal punishment- with 98% of adults reporting they were whacked as kids on occasion . So what goes on here? Could there be a correlation? Nah, that would be way too un-PC to even suggest….
#4-Some Gringos bring their bad first-world habits with them… please don’t do that!!
#5-Should you take advantage of the high interest rate bank CD’s that so many Latin Banks are offering? Sure, you can get up to 10% APR if you’ve got enough dough and time. But whats the catch and the risks?
#6- Besides the constant barrage of overtly sexy and scantily clad women, you’ll never guess what’s being shown on Latin TV. Would you believe certain Latin lawyers up in the states are showing up on Latin TV, teaching illegals up in the states exactly how to evade ICE, US Immigration officials? It’s something average American citizens will never understand unless they watch the Latin channels and speak Spanish, and of course that’ll never happen.
