Descriptions- EXPAT FILES SHOW #775 SUN, JULY 22- (07-22-2018):
#1- No one is the guru or expert on all that goes on in Latin America. I re-learn that lesson practically every week. Funny thing is that when you start believing you’ve got a great handle on things and maybe even become a “know it all” something happens that makes you feel like a novice or worse yet, a dolt. It’s the subject of today's “boots on the ground story”
#2- Astute Canadians are really getting pissed off at their dystopian government often seeing that their only alternative is to pack up and develop a Plan B.
Meanwhile the Canadian government is loosening immigration policies and more or less welcoming Latinos in like never before, including the uneducated and unskilled. And down here in Latin America the word is rapidly getting out.
#3- Today you’ll see just how the Canadian tax system controls and reigns in its citizens even more than US big Brother does.
#4- The Feds are getting serious about blocking and refusing passports to people who (they claim) owe more than $50k in back taxes. Yes, if you live in the states things are going from bad to worse… but you know that already.
#5- The big difference between Starbucks in the states and Starbucks in Latin America

#2- Your best revenge against Montezuma’s revenge:
Having explosive diarrhea in a foreign country is uncomfortable, embarrassing and a pain in the ass for both you and the janitor. Some gringos think it just happens, a fact of life. However, there are definite ways to avoid it, but most gringos, tourists and especially backpackers don't take precautions and nearly always bring it on themselves.
#3- Lemons, limes and limas:
Many Latinos are addicted to lemons and have them a few times a day. They are ubiquitous in most Latin homes. That’s a good and healthy thing right? Well, in some ways yes but not according to most Latin dentists. BTW, some Latinos even squeeze lemons over their junk food.
#4- How gringos and Expats get regular with platanos (plantains)

Descriptions- EXPAT FILES SHOW #771 SUN, JULY 01- (07-01-2018):
#1- Big Brother is making it harder and harder for you to get your ass an assets out of dodge:
Today we have an amazing “boots on the ground” story of just how bad it can get and what kind of wringer the bureaucrats can put you through if they have a mind to(we’re assuming they have minds). Worse yet, this example comes from those so-called ‘terminally nice folks” up there in Canada.
#2- Our newly insured Gringa takes her first trip to a medical specialist and visits a 1st world hospital/clinic for tests and more- Part 2: It’s our latest and greatest, extremely informative and eye opening “boots on the ground” story involving Latin America Healthcare systems .
#3-When gringos and expats get robbed:
This time we have two separate, “boots on the ground” robbery stories dealing with gringos and expats who should have known better. But as you will see, most all of us arrive in Latin America starry-eyed and clueless. We arrive as vulnerable and easy marks, especially when we land in highly gringoized areas. Though funny enough, sometimes being robbed is one of the best lessons a newbee expat can learn… as long as the crooks don’t get too much.
#4- Johnny’s next “Latin American Insider” seminar is near to launch. It will take place from Saturday, July 7th thru Thursday, July 12th 2018. Get the details and the scoop on the early-bird discounts by going to www.TheNewExpat.com and clicking on the “seminar” link.
