Yes, if you live in Latin America you really must have WhatsApp or you might as well live in a cave. By all means download it and use it to talk to the plumber and cleaning lady. Then also download a much more secure app (like Signal or Telegram) and use it for private conversations and sensitive communications. However, note that Latinos will think you are nuts if you try to explain why you have two chat apps.. so don’t bother to mention it.
